Who we are

About My Island Compass

Caribbean travel, the way islanders plan it — from a family that calls these islands home.

My Island Compass is a Caribbean travel-planning site run by a Caribbean family that lives right here in the region. We grew up island-hopping on ferries and small planes, eating at roadside grills, and learning which beach is calm in the morning and which one catches the afternoon breeze. We built this site because we kept meeting visitors who had spent weeks researching and still missed the places we love most.

32 islands, one honest guide

We cover 32 islands — from St. Thomas, Anguilla and Anegada to Barbados, Curaçao and the Out Islands of the Bahamas. Every island has its own rhythm, its own food and its own etiquette, and we try to respect that rather than squeeze everywhere into the same template.

How our itineraries are built

You tell us which islands you're drawn to, what you enjoy, your budget and your pace. Our planning tool then drafts a day-by-day itinerary using that brief alongside the knowledge we've gathered as locals: realistic travel times between beaches and towns, when places actually open, and which experiences are worth the effort. For islands where we have built a verified directory, such as St. Thomas, Anguilla and Anegada, recommendations are drawn only from businesses we have checked.

Why local knowledge matters

Guidebooks age quickly and review sites reward whoever shouts loudest. Locals know that the best lobster on Anegada needs a reservation by midday, that some islands have no dive shop at all, and that a slower day often turns out to be the highlight of the trip. That kind of detail is the difference between a holiday and a great one.

We're a small team and we read every message. Say hello — or start planning your trip.
